Venture Leaders 2008

(My roommate Roberto from Bashiba)

(4 day Entrepreneurship Executive course at Babson College)

(Case Study Starbucks vs. Dunkin Donuts: Coffee at Dunkin stays warm for 2 hours; Coffee at Starbucks only 15-30 min. Learning: An apparantly tiny thing such as a different cup material can have huge implications. The coffee doesn’t matter, its the cup!)

(Jessica Livingston – Author of the fantastic book ‘Founders at Work‘ – her next book will be published next year. And oh btw: I did get my copy signed ;-)

(At Y Combinator – one of the most famous startup incubators in the US)

(Very cool Airport Vending Machine at Logan Airport. There was a Sony-Machine and an Apple-Machine for iPods and Stuff. I almost bought a Sony Noise Cancelling Headphones for $199 but then backed off as I’m planning to buy Bose Headphones ;-)
The trip was very inspiring. If you are a Swiss Startup I highly recommend to apply for this unique opportunity next year.

Was nice meeting you there in Boston and in Zurich for the techcrunch event this summer. My trip in California with the IMD EMBA teams was very similar to the Boston trip: start-up visits and so on. Go apply to imd.ch/startup competition! Hope to keep in touch!
Cheers, Maël

Roberto funny man :)

Both Dunkin and sony’s containers become part of their product concept. This sets them a step ahead of their competition.

Surely no cofeee cup known to mankind can keep its contents warm for 2 hours! What do Dunkin Donuts know that the laws of physics dont?? :D

Just goes to show take the time to research your product and competition, and make yours the best in can be. So much can be said for for thought and packaging to help sway a final decision.
Theres an old saying here in America…Friends dont let friends drink Starbucks coffee!

Dunkin Donuts rocks! Good logo branding concept that is easy to remember and notice. Coffee is pretty darn good as well.

Remo, will they ever do something similar over here, in Sweden?
Traveling is a bit expensive and I can’t afford it at the moment…
As for the vending machine: WTF! Never seen anything like it before :)
